I was privileged to attend the 2017 Susan K Black workshop in Dubois, Wyoming this past week. Enjoyed studying with several outstanding instructors including John and Suzie Seery-Lester in acrylics and Georgia Mansur in watercolor. Enjoyed the positive energy from all the instructors and students, and made some wonderful new friends and reconnected with old friends. My watercolor painting "Greenhead" won second place for watercolor in the SKB Small Works show that was juried by John Seery-Lester, Lee Cable, Bob Koenke, Burt DeVere, and Darlene Cecil.
Second Place went to Joy Keown for “Greenhead,” a portrait of a mallard. “The treatment of the subject–the way it’s handled–is excellent, and it’s a very, very strong composition. One aspect that caused us problems was the feet. They are slightly inaccurate. But overall, we loved it. The design elements were really great.” Comments by John Seery-Lester.
