"Across the Valley" 11 x 23" watercolor
My donation piece for Rocky Mountain National Park Artist in Residence program.  The reference photo was taken from Lumpy Ridge and overlooks the Estes Park valley with Long's Peak in the distance.  My project involved finding the places where the early landscape artists did their work.  Birger Sandzen did his painting "Long's Peak" from this location.

  1. Hi Joy,
I’d like to invite you to join a brand new AIR forum/community/meeting place for all of us who have had the great good luck to be associated with the National Park/Forest Artist in Residence programs. RMNP was my first residency in 1993 and since then I've been granted 10 more and am looking forward this summer to one in Tongass National Forest, Alaska. A great resource while researching residencies have been the journals and websites of former AIRs, so I thought it would be great to have a place where we could all interact.

So I hope you will register and try it out, if there are any suggestions to make the site better, please let me know. If you are not ready to register yet, but would like to share a link to journals or pages you've published on the web, shoot me an email and I will be happy to post a link for you.

Feel free to share with other AIRs you may know and hope to see you In the Field!
