Susan K Black "Small Works" Show award

I was privileged to attend the 2017 Susan K Black workshop in Dubois, Wyoming this past week.  Enjoyed studying with several outstanding instructors including John and Suzie Seery-Lester in acrylics and Georgia Mansur in watercolor.  Enjoyed the positive energy from all the instructors and students, and made some wonderful new friends and reconnected with old friends.  My watercolor painting "Greenhead"  won second place for watercolor in the SKB Small Works show that was juried by John Seery-Lester, Lee Cable, Bob Koenke, Burt DeVere, and Darlene Cecil.

Audubon Hike to Gap Lakes

This past Saturday I was privileged to join the Audubon hike to the Gap Lakes where I had my first sighting of brown-capped rosy finches.  We also saw American pipits and their nestlings, Townsend's Solitaires, etc.  It was a beautiful day to be outdoors and the wildflowers, scenery and hiking companions were all superb.

Cheyenne East High School watercolor class

Thank you to Cheyenne East High School watercolor students and their teacher Sarah Krank for inviting me to come and teach a watercolor workshop today.  Our focus was landscape painting. We also learned some of the properties of watercolor paints, as well as a little color theory and range of values, along with several techniques for working with watercolors.

Mount Moran Morning

This small watercolor was donated to Ark Regional Services for their recent fundraiser.  Apparently there were quite a few folks who liked the painting because it received many bids in the silent auction, and sold for a good price.  Thank you to the patron who purchased the painting, and thank you to Ark Regional Services for all you do to improve the quality of life for the disabled.  They "envision a world where every person who has a disability is embraced as an equal member of the community, appreciated for their unique and important contributions, and encouraged to participate in every pursuit that is presented to them."

Western Spirit Show

Thanks to Megan Hesser at the Old West Museum for inviting me to do the children's workshop today. Unfortunately we were so busy that we neglected to take any photos, but the children had fun doing the watercolor pouring technique. And, one of my larger paintings sold! Thanks so much to the patron who purchased my work.
